I had finished the homehaus series, but then Dike Mystic Wim Kol came up with another depiction of his Dike Temple, this one inspired by Piranesi. Now there were 6 Dike Mystic paintings and only 5 homehaus works.
And I had envisioned the Dike Mystic Exhibition with two symmetrical rows: the Dike Temples on the left side and the homehaus theme paintings on the right side. You’ll see when I have the rendering made. You would walk through a kind of corridor between the dikes and the life themes. But now, I was one homehaus theme short.
So I decided to do a sixth one. ‘Sleep’ seemed like a suitable theme. As essential as the home and death. As a symbol I added a tower. Rising high and beaming messages. As a keyword I chose a combination of the Greek and the Dutch words for sleep: YPNOS and SLAAP. Now all I have to do is paint it and have it printed over with the JFX200. The tower will be a bright yellow.
